Teach for India Fellowship
As part of Teach For India's Cohort of 2022, I worked for 2 years as a teacher in the most underserved areas of Bangalore. With a focus on design for change, and safe spaces for voice, I taught 130 9th, 10th, 6th and 7th grade students math and science.
YEAR ONE
Grade 9 & 10
Our grade 9 and 10 students were reading at a grade 3-5 level, while battling social pressures like substance abuse and self harm. Pointed academic and art based intervention led to significant emotional growth, and the pass percentage increasing from a 30 to 80.
YEAR TWO
Grade 6 & 7
Our grade 6 and 7 students were struggling with a lack of foundational skills that set them back several years, while also battling puberty and the challenges that come with it. Pointed design and art interventions helped them build a love for learning, while pushing student confidence and academic outcomes.
