A pack of illustrated cards Created for a studio project at Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology, August - September 2020
The Problem
Cyclone Amphan caused widespread damage in West Bengal and Odisha in May of 2020. Coping with a cyclone as well as a pandemic had adverse effects on the children of Bengal. Research and live interviews show that children suffer from a great deal of anxiety after having lost so much in a disaster—their family, shelter, friends, education, etc. Many of them show anger, aggressiveness, bedwetting, and depression. In India, due to the large population and lack of resources, relief work stops with basic amenities like food and water. We do not address the emotional trauma inflicted upon these victims. How might we create a tool that helps children cope with loss in a fun and creative way?
The Impact
A story a day allows children affected by a catastrophic event to unwind, breathe, find peace within themselves, and regain a sense of joy in the wonders of their own imagination. It allows them to reconnect with themselves in an effort to cope with loss.
Don't touch my hands
The Solution
A Journey a Day is a card activity designed for children above the age of 4. This card activity is designed to be used for a one-week period (but can be replayed as many times as one wants) and allows the child to create a new fantasy animal each day and create stories with their new friend. The process includes activities like breathing, painting, playing, creating, stretching, and learning. The process culminates with the child bringing together all their animals to take a journey together.

5.Deewar
An illustrated comic that builds an understanding of the lives of daily wage workers. 32 page A5 comic book Created for an examination at Srishti Institute of Art Design and Technology July 2020
The Problem
Owing to the nationwide lockdown, which came into effect on the 24th of March 2020, all activities, rural as well as urban, came to a standstill. The impact on the labor community was highlighted by the media as one of the matters of concern. Amongst these, one segment that got very heavily affected was the daily wage working class. The country saw a very large group of workers migrate to their home states by any means possible. Many were even seen moving out of the cities on foot with their families in the hope to get back to their homes and take care of their family. Often, at such times, the focus on the person is either lost or is superficial and does not do justice to them. How can we build an empathetic understanding of daily wage workers lives, their work, their families, their problems, their emotional journeys, and all facets that are connected to their lives?
